Mainly couples and families looking for sunshine and uncrowded beaches; good for children as the swimming is safe and there is little road traffic. Not for those seeking lively nightlife.

Aghios Gordios - All Inclusive
Seekers of a quiet beach holiday; walkers and nature lovers. Steep terrain means it is not well suited to those with mobility difficulties.

Aghios Ioannis - Kids Club  All Inclusive 
Middlemarket families and couples seeking a quiet, relaxing holiday with reasonable proximity to Benitses for lively nightlife. Various European nationalities.

Arilas
Couples and families looking for a quiet beach holiday. Mainly British and Eastern European visitors.

Corfu Town - All Inclusive
Cosmopolitan, appealing to a wide market range, but unsuitable for a beach holiday. Practically anyone holidaying on Corfu would find a day in town, shopping and sightseeing, highly rewarding.

Dassia - Kids Club  All Inclusive 
All ages, but particularly young groups and couples under 35.

Ipsos
With most of the action facing the beach, Ipsos is very much a resort for the youth market, catering almost exclusively to the British.

Kavos
British youngsters and groups under 30 from mid June to Sept; most age groups for the remainder of the year. Older couples and young families may find quieter Aghios Petros more to their liking.

Roda All Inclusive
Families and couples of most ages. Teenagers are catered for, but there are livelier resorts elsewhere on the island. The resort attracts a lot of repeat business from both British and German guests.

Sidari - Kids Club  All Inclusive 
Safe, quiet, family package-holiday destination, towards the budget end of the market. British orientated. Walkers will appreciate the gentle hills and impressive inland scenery.

Crete

Bali
Budget to mid-market tourists mainly in the younger age group and families. Beach-lovers of many nationalities, including British, German, Dutch, Italian and French. The hilly terrain makes it unsuitable for those with severe walking difficulties.

Chania - All Inclusive
Suits most groups and ages, particularly those seeking a genuine taste of the Cretan way of life and its history as well as relaxation, superb scenery, sun and sea. A good base from which to undertake individual travel, with your own means of transport.

Elounda - All Inclusive
Something here for everyone, including walkers and snorkellers. Suits a wide range of budgets.

Gouves -Kids Club  All Inclusive
Couples and families of all ages and most budgets. The nightlife isn't as lively as neighbouring resorts so head elsewhere if you want to party into the wee hours.

Heraklion
For those seeking a genuine interest in the Cretan way of life, its history and archaeology, this is a very good base from which to begin. Will suit most groups and ages provided you do not just want the beach and sea facilities.

Hersonissos -Kids Club  All Inclusive
A mixed resort offering a catch-all holiday cocktail and no particularly outstanding attributes. The main resort is a busy town with an attractive waterfront and a healthy nightlife, bringing young and more mature guests side by side.

Malia
Young singles, couples, families – all fun/sun seekers who want a full-on party town at a value price. In high season it appeals mainly to rowdy British youngsters – anyone over 22 is likely to feel old.

Rethymnon - All Inclusive
Something for most visitors, whether seeking history and culture, top-of-the-range luxury or basic accommodation and the beach. A good base for exploring W Crete.

Stalis - All Inclusive
Most sun- and sea-lovers or pool loungers should be happy here; only dedicated nightclub ravers may be disappointed. Young, old, couples and families are well catered for, as are all purses. The village also makes a good base from which to explore.

Zante

Argassi -All Inclusive
Very family orientated, but also geared to couples and young singles who may appreciate its range of nightlife. Mainly British and German visitors, with some Dutch.

Kalamaki -All Inclusive
Lower to middlemarket clientele, largely British. Those wanting a peaceful holiday (notwithstanding regular aircraft noise); more likely to please families, couples and older people.

Laganas -All Inclusive
For the young and lively who want to dance the night away. Also for families who don't mind some noise from discos and bars. The centre of the resort is not for those who want a quiet or peaceful holiday.

Tsilivi - Kids Club  All Inclusive
A family-orientated resort, also suitable for couples. Predominantly British with a smattering of German and Dutch. Lots of Greek visitors in July and Aug.
